The next step after confirming your DJ is to start thinking about what kind of atmosphere you want to create on the night.
What is next?
Music plays a key role in each event, so we want to make sure we get it right. The week of your event Your DJ will give you a phone call to have a talk about the type of party you want to create and how you want to go about making it happen. Think of what types of music you want while people are mingling or eating early in the night as well as what types of tunes you think will create the right party atmosphere later in the evening once people are ready to party.
Between now and your party, make sure to start writing a list of your favourite songs when you hear them on the radio, at the pub, in the club or in your iTunes, CD or Vinyl collection at home. That way you can email the list to your DJ and by the time you talk with them they will already have a good idea of the type of music you would like played.
You can choose as many or as few songs as you like. Let us know what songs you love, what songs you hate and if you would like your DJ to take requests from your guests.
Here is a good format to send your song requests in:
Songs I must have played.
Songs I hate and musnt be played, ever.
Genres I really like.
Genres I really don’t like.
This will give our DJs the best feel for what music will make you happy and also gives them room to cater to what your guests would like to hear too.
